We're now just over one year away from midterm elections that will determine who controls the Senate, and we're up against a Republican Party that has surrendered its identity to an increasingly authoritarian and unhinged Donald Trump — and have shown that there is no limit to what they are willing to do to seize power.

Last night’s results in Virginia, where a Trump-endorsed candidate won after a campaign of fear and division, show that we are going to have to work hard and stick together to prevent a Republican takeover in 2022 and preserve our fight for a better future. But still, with the continued grassroots support of concerned Americans like yourself, we can expand our control of the Senate, save our democracy, and defend the rule of law.

As we approach this critical fight, I want to gauge your opinion on an important issue. The filibuster is an antiquated and undemocratic Senate procedure which allows 41 out of 100 senators to block most legislation. It is nowhere to be found in the Constitution and subverts the will of the American people.

I recognize there are different views on this issue, but I feel that the time has come to take action to end, or amend, the filibuster so we can break through this debilitating gridlock and preserve our democracy.
