Thank you, John.

Though this is not the result we’d hoped for, I’m so proud of what we built over the last year.

This campaign would not have been possible without our incredible team of grassroots supporters -- and that includes you, John. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. The doors you knocked, the calls you made, and the dollars you chipped in made all the difference.

Losing is never easy. We put ourselves out there and left it all on the field.

But John, our work is not done. It’s still on each of us to help move Virginia forward.

We must protect Virginia's great public schools and invest in our students. We must protect affordable health care coverage, raise the minimum wage faster, and expand paid leave so working families have a fighting shot. We must protect voting rights, protect a woman's right to choose, and, above all else, we must protect our democracy.

While there will be setbacks along the way, I am confident that the long term path of Virginia is toward inclusion, openness and tolerance for all. And I’ll continue to be a part of that fight with you.
