NIAC, J Street, Peace Action, and more demand that Biden act now.

Dear John,

Over the last ten months, NIAC supporters across the country have held over 100 meetings with Members of Congress and their staff. One of the top concerns they bring up in these meetings is the devastating humanitarian situation impacting every day people in Iran. These people are our friends, families, and loved ones - and they deserve better.

Ten months into this new U.S. administration, we hoped for more rapid progress that would help our loved ones. But instead, we continue to hear stories of the difficulties our friends and families have gone through during this pandemic, with Iranian government corruption and mismanagement, and under crushing sanctions. It is increasingly hard for loved ones to put food on the table or secure vital medicine and vaccines.

NIAC is proud to team with organizations like J Street, Miaan Group, Win Without War, and Peace Action by calling on President Biden to act NOW. Doing so is not just the morally right thing to do, but also sends a positive signal that could lead to a diplomatic breakthrough resulting in more consequential sanctions relief.

You can see coverage of the letter in Responsible Statecraft, in Persian on Radio Farda and in Business Insider.

Our work does not stop with this letter, John.

We are redoubling our efforts to create political urgency in the days and months ahead to take steps to defeat COVID-19 in Iran and across the globe, as well as keep the window for diplomacy open.

We appreciate all that you do to build political power for the Iranian-American community.

Thank you,

Ryan Costello
Policy Director, NIAC
