Dear Friend,
Thank you.
Yesterday, the voters of the City of Alexandria put me back to work for another term as your Mayor. I am honored to have the support of our residents as we tackle the unique challenges of the next three years.
In their wisdom, the voters have returned my three colleagues, Councilman Canek Aguirre, Councilman John Chapman and Councilwoman Amy Jackson to the Council. They have also selected three exciting newcomers, in Councilwoman-Elect Sarah Bagley, Councilwoman-Elect Alyia Gaskins and Councilman-Elect Kirk McPike. This will be a great team for Alexandria.
This new City Council will have its formal installation on the evening of Monday January 3rd. Stay tuned for more details on this event.
The voters of Alexandria also chose a new School Board last night. Congrats to returning members Meagan Alderton, Jacinta Greene, and Michele Rief, as well as their new colleagues Willie Bailey, Ashley Baird, Kelly Booz, Abdel Elnoubi, Chris Harris, and Tammy Ignacio. I look forward to working with all of you to support our students.
While Richmond will be a very different place in January, I'm glad that Delegate Charniele Herring will be returning to the House of Delegates and that she will be joined by my colleague, Delegate-Elect Elizabeth Bennett-Parker.
While unopposed, the voters of Alexandria also re-elected our Commonwealth's Attorney and elected Sean Casey to be our next Sheriff. We are fortunate to have such conscientious public servants working for Alexandrians.
This is a challenging time for our City, but with your ideas, energy and positive thoughts, we will continue to move our City forward.
I am thankful for your support,
Justin
