Friend,

A little while ago, I called my opponent to offer my support and congratulate him on a hard-fought race.

When I first started this campaign, I always knew it’d be tough. In 2020, Republicans won Ohio’s 15th Congressional District by 27%.

But I thought back to when I first ran for the Statehouse and how much of an uphill battle it was to win that campaign in a district that was also on difficult terrain.

In that race, I ran on a simple premise: get things done for my constituents and never compromise my beliefs.

I kept my promises to voters at the Statehouse, reaching across the aisle to find common ground and also championing the values that we all hold so dear.

It was that same core premise that was at the heart of this campaign for Congress.

We traveled all over the district, talking to folks about the issues important to them. Farmers, students, small business owners, and workers: who despite their diverse backgrounds are all united by their desire for a better future for Ohio.

And almost to a person, they agreed on two things: a sense of frustration over the dysfunction gripping our politics, and the hope that we can build opportunity.

It is my belief that to build that opportunity, we have to put working families at the center of everything we do.

My mom didn’t have the easiest time as a young mom, but job training, a union job, and education helped lead her and my whole family onto the path for a middle-class life — that same middle-class life that we must fight like hell to protect here in Ohio.

To every volunteer who knocked on a door, every grassroots donor who chipped in a few bucks, and every person who supported me — thank you.

So while tonight’s results are not what we hoped for, I am deeply proud of the campaign we ran.

And this fight is just beginning. You deserve more leaders in Congress who will take on the tough fights and deliver for Ohio working families.

We must continue to advocate for workers’ rights, push for affordable healthcare, fight to protect the right to vote, and root out the corruption that is robbing Ohio families of their hard-earned dollars.

There is too much at stake in Washington for us to sit idly on the sidelines. I was built for tough fights, and I’m looking forward to the next one in 2022.

Thank you all.

Allison
