Dear People For Supporter,
As the polls close tonight and we await the results of today’s critical statewide election in Virginia, we wanted to say THANK YOU.
Nearly 700 People For volunteers contacted tens of thousands of Virginia voters by phone, text, mail, and in person -- including close to 200 volunteers taking Get Out The Vote shifts in the final weeks of the campaign and more than 20,000 personal handwritten letters to infrequent voters.
We reached a massive number of Black and Latino voters with a total of six TV and radio ads, backed by nearly $800K, thanks to your dedicated support.
We joined our supporters and allies on the ground for a jam-packed schedule of rallies and canvass launches, including several in these final days with People For Board Member and civil rights hero Dolores Huerta.
And our efforts throughout the campaign earned consistent coverage in major news outlets ranging from the Washington Post and USA Today, to Univision and the Richmond Free Press.
No matter the outcome tonight, we’ve left it all on the field. We got an important preview of the tactics the Far Right will be relying on in next year’s midterms when they try to take control of Congress. And in sharpening our own tools and tactics in Virginia, we’ll be that much more ready to take our fight national in the coming year to save our democracy from the party of Trump, the party of the Big Lie and insurrection, and the politics of hate.
Together, we’ll keep fighting the Far Right and working to build a society that truly reflects the ideals of freedom, equality, opportunity, justice, and democracy for all.
