Friend,

Donald Trump was banned from major social media platforms for good reason: He has an unrivaled lust for spreading dangerous misinformation and conspiracy theories, and he used his social media accounts to help incite an insurrection on our Capitol.

But now, Trump is using a bevy of investors – shielded by a process of unsecured, opaque financial assets – to launch his own social media platform. He's calling it "Truth Social."

Let's be crystal clear about what this platform would be: a home to anything but the truth. It would be a home for right-wing propaganda and conspiracy theories that have the potential to lead to dangerous misinformation campaigns and violence. In short, it would be a home for any and all "news" that is unfit to print.

Friend, we already have enough challenges with existing platforms like Facebook that amplify misinformation. The last thing we need right now is for Trump to return to social media with a personal digital bull horn – inevitably becoming a megaphone to the most extreme, right-wing rhetoric in the country.

I need to know where you stand on Donald Trump's potential return to social media. Please, will you submit your response before my 11:59 p.m. deadline? I'm looking for 1,200 members of this team to speak out, and I haven't heard from you yet:

Do you support Donald Trump returning to social media?
