The steel industry has been central to Northwest Indiana's way of life since the first mills arrived on the Lake Michigan shoreline over 100 years ago. But there remain serious threats to American workers from the anti-competitive actions of bad actors around the world, who do not adhere to our nation’s labor and environmental standards.

Furthermore, our domestic steel industry is making incredible investments to reduce carbon emissions and address climate change. Their continued investments in innovation must be encouraged and our trade laws must be fully enforced — our communities, our economy, and our national security depend on the health of the steel industry.
