John,
Today is election day. We hope you have the chance to exercise your rights by voting. But did you know that more than a dozen states have introduced or passed laws to restrict voting access under the guise of “protecting voter integrity”? These laws are designed to suppress voting access for millions and take power away from voters. They’re an egregious attack on our democracy.
But there’s a federal bill that would strengthen our democracy and access to voting for everyone: the For the People Act, which already passed the House. Now it’s up to the Senate to pass it too, but Republicans are scared to allow a vote.

Why? Because if it passed, the bill would override all their maneuvering over the last decades to block voting access and rig elections through extreme partisan gerrymandering.
The For the People Act will:
-Make registering to vote and casting a ballot easier
-Outlaw partisan gerrymandering of congressional districts
-Overhaul campaign finance laws so the power of small donors is equal to big money donors, and the power of Super PACs is reduced
-Require states to allow a minimum of two weeks of early voting
-Allow vote-by-mail for any reason
Protect Voting Access

It’s a simple idea: If you want to exercise your right to vote, then you should be allowed to do so. Period. It shouldn’t matter how you vote – by mail, early or on election day. It should only matter that you have access to vote.
At Food & Water Action, we help people build their political power and hold elected officials accountable. That’s why we fight against those who want to keep people from voting. When we all stand together, people power wins. That’s why we need you to send a message to your senators today: Protect our democracy and pass the For the People Act.
