** Wisconsin's Monthly Job Watch

After job losses in August, Wisconsin labor market held steady in September – adding zero jobs. We’re still below pre-COVID levels and it isn’t clear when we’ll get back to normal. But “normal” for low-wage workers was unsustainable, leaving too many families struggling to get by.

** Mayors Innovative Design Cohort Kicks Off
------------------------------------------------------------

The Cohort kicked off with a packed virtual room of architects, mayors and 20+ city staff from Eastpointe, MI, Clarksville, TN, and Blacksburg, VA. These winning cities were paired with architect teams to tackle a local renovation, reuse or retrofit challenge, all while reducing environmental impact and equitably serving the surrounding community.

Project organizers meet in Eastpointe, MI. The City will work with architects to design an open-air space downtown, creating opportunities to establish a farmer’s market, bring in other public events, and promote walkability.


** The amount we drive could make or break clean energy plans

There is a growing consensus around the need for achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The White House ([link removed]) , Ford Motor Company ([link removed]) , and many state and local governments seem to be on board. Yet the transportation sector—still an afterthought in some bold plans ([link removed]) —may be our biggest challenge.

** Wages & Benefits Roadmap

Although productivity has overall increased since the 70s, income levels haven't. In fact, the minimum wage has declined 17% ([link removed]) within the past decade (adjusted for inflation). ProGov21 ([link removed]) 's latest policy roadmap provides local leaders and allies with a guide for addressing this.
