Peace and love, John, Jamaal Bowman here.
I'm writing today to discuss something different. It's something that's been on my mind for a while: mental health.
Mental health is no longer taboo and we all have trauma. Let's be real, the past two years have been tough for all of us. And as we continue to take on each day, I'm sending healing and peace to all dealing with pain, both seen and unseen.
I also want to remind you of this: Your mental health is as important as your physical health.
Life is hard to do alone. For anyone. So I encourage everyone to find a family member, a friend, a colleague, or someone to choose happiness with and reject misery which so often loves company. I'm blessed to have my wife and kids help me heal as I make conscious efforts to choose happiness.
I encourage you, too, to find and seek out choices that bring you happiness. Some of those choices include eating healthy, exercising, sleeping, and choosing to have a positive frame of mind.
I personally know and research shows that putting positivity into the universe, through prayer, meditation, yoga, or a positive song, video, or article can shift things. Find and practice that positivity.
I'd love to also hear how you have been practicing positivity in your day to day life. If you want to share some of those tips, I'd love to hear from you here. I'll be sure to share some of the top responses I get.
Peace and love, John. Be well,
Jamaal
