Yesterday the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the case against the
oppressive Texas abortion ban passed into law earlier this year.

What’s more, in just a few weeks, the Supreme Court will be hearing
another case challenging a Mississippi law banning abortions after 15
weeks.

To get right to the point –
legal abortion access is on the line.

Women and reproductive justice activists have been ringing the alarm for
years as GOP state lawmakers introduced dozens of sweeping bills that
would dramatically restrict abortion access, and Republicans in Congress
mobilized to force hyperconservative nominees onto the Supreme Court.

Over the past few months, those warnings have been vindicated.

So let me be clear: Roe v.
Wade and a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion are fundamental
rights.

Yet, the most conservative Court in our lifetime will have the power to
ban abortion once and for all due to dirty politics and rushed
confirmations.

This should be a wake-up call to all law-makers in this
country.

I’m proud to have served on the board of my local Planned Parenthood
chapter before joining Congress and to have a 100% pro-choice voting
record according to NARAL Pro-Choice America. I have never wavered in my
support of abortion access and protecting our right to choose, and I never
will.

We cannot allow fifty years of constitutional protections ensured by Roe
v. Wade to expire in the shadows. Together we must fight all
unconstitutional abortion bans so that everyone has the autonomy to make
their own health care decisions.
