Biden naps during ‘One of the Most Important Meetings in History’ as the fate of the planet hangs in balance...

(11/1/21) reports: "President Joe Biden appeared to fall asleep Monday at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Scotland, potentially endangering the lives of billions of human beings. The 78-year-old Democrat was spotted dozing off as a conference speaker urged attendees at 'one of the most important meetings in history" to "stop the destruction of this magnificent planet.' Biden closed his eyes and did not move until an aide walked up to him to chat, perhaps just to remind the increasingly unpopular president that he was being filmed. Following his nap, Biden took the stage and described climate change as an "existential threat to human existence as we know it" that was 'already ravaging the world.' Each world leader was allowed three minutes to speak, but Biden's remarks lasted more than 11 minutes. At one point, he apologized to the world for former president Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement. The president arrived in
Scotland on Monday and was escorted by a convoy of 20 gas-guzzling SUVs. It was a relatively modest entourage compared with the 85-car convoy that had accompanied Biden in Rome days earlier and been widely criticized for causing excessive harm to the planet."

(11/2/21) reports: "Commenting on the words of US President Joe Biden that the OPEC+ countries should increase oil production, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called for waiting until the next consultations of the alliance. 'Russia is a party to the OPEC+ agreements. We adhere to our obligations under these agreements. However, it is a flexible mechanism, and taking into account the infrastructural and situational changes, every time at a given moment, the situation is subject to revision and subsequent decisions. What these decisions will be - let's wait for the planned or extraordinary consultations, if necessary,' the Kremlin spokesman said. On October 31, speaking at a press conference in Rome after the G20 summit, US President Joe Biden said that the refusal of Russia, Saudi Arabia and other oil-producing countries to increase oil production amid rising prices for oil products is a wrong step. When asked what the White House intends to do to make the OPEC+ countries increase production
volumes, Biden said he would not like to talk about these steps until they are taken."

(10/29/21) editorial: "World leaders converge on Glasgow for a climate summit this weekend, and don’t laugh. This may be the worst-timed summit in history, but the delegates can still do substantial damage to the global economy, though none of it will matter to the climate. It’s incongruous bordering on the bizarre to organize a summit like this while Europe is battening down for a winter fuel crisis, President Biden is begging OPEC to produce more oil, China is firing up its coal-fueled power plants amid an electricity shortage, and climate-change plans wilt as soon as they’re exposed to the sunlight of democratic politics. No matter. This summit is called COP26 because there have already been 25. No less than the United Nations admitted this week that nations have made little progress on their previous climate pledges. But rather than adjust to this political reality, the delegates will make even more unrealistic promises. The summit’s two main priorities are a pledge to reach 'net zero'
greenhouse-gas emissions by some future date, perhaps 2050, and to convince developed countries to pay poor countries to sign up for more CO2 reductions. Neither will amount to much."
