Dear John,

President Biden and Congressional Democrats are gearing up to pass their multitrillion dollar reckless tax and spending spree bill in Congress without any bipartisan input.

Their radical bill is packed full with liberal priorities and spending programs that will either be paid for by increasing the debt or by significantly raising taxes on Montana families, small businesses and workers. At a time when Montana families are already facing skyrocketing prices on everything from gas to groceries because of the inflation from Biden and the Democrats’ wasteful spending policies, this bill is the exact OPPOSITE of what we need right now.

Some of the provisions of the Democrats’ reckless tax & spending bill would:

  • Raise taxes by $420 BILLION on small businesses, hampering job growth and resulting in lower wages for MT workers
  • Increase childcare costs by $13,000 for every Montana family
  • Increase taxes and fees on Made in Montana energy, leading to higher gas and electricity costs for Montana families
  • Spend close to $80 BILLION to supersize the IRS and add over 80,000 new IRS agents
  • Allow taxpayer dollars to be used for abortion
  • Attack Montana mining communities by adding new taxes, fees and regulations that will drive mining jobs out of Montana

Montanans are fired up against this crazy spending proposal by the Democrats. In fact, last week I was in Bozeman where Montanans spoke out and were adamantly opposed to this bill and want Senator Jon Tester to stand with me and vote "no."

Republicans are united in voting against this disastrous tax and spending spree. It would only take ONE Senate Democrat to stand with us and put a stop to this radical proposal, and I have an idea of who that should be – he’s from Montana.

Sincerely,

Senator Steve Daines
