Nguyen Cited by National Arms Association Arizona District 1 Representative Quang Nguyen was recently named by the 2021 National Shooting Sports Foundation as the Arizona State Legislator of the Year. The NSSF cited Rep. Nguyen’s actions to preserve America’s constitutional Second Amendment rights through his bold and determined leadership in the Arizona House. Rep. Nguyen and Arizona Senator Wendy Rogers were instrumental in passing legislation that prohibits state entities from suing an organization in the firearms industry for damages resulting from criminal misuse of firearms. The legislation also codifies in statute that firearms business are essential during a state of emergency. He was elected to the Arizona House in the 2020 General Election. He currently is the Vice Chair of the House Military Affairs and Public Safety Committee and is a member of the House Appropriations, Education and Judiciary Committees. Arizona School Coalition Pushes to Sever Ties With National Group The newly formed Arizona Coalition of School Board Members has called on the Arizona School Board Association to sever ties with the National School Board Association over charges that the NSBA referred to concerned parents as domestic terrorists. The ACSBM rejects labeling parents who want to be involved in their children’s education as domestic terrorists. They also believe school boards in Arizona are stronger when communities and school boards effectively communicate. To date three states have left NSBA while another 20 states have diminished their involvement in the organization. Coalition President and RPAZ First Vice-Chair Pam Kirby believes “Arizona should be one of those states.” The NSBA issued an apology to its members for causing hardship and pledging to work on their process, however the ACSBM encourages Arizona school boards to support parents statewide and cease their relationship with the national organization.
