Indivisibles,

There is so much going on this week in the House, we wanted to update you
on where we stand on some of our key issues.

First, reconciliation: On Friday, progressives held the line once again,
making sure that key Democrats held true to their promises to their
constituents -- meaning temporarily withholding their votes on the
too-small Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework (BIF), until the more
inclusive recovery plan (the one that addresses climate, childcare, and
more) gets passed first.

Last week, President Biden said he had the 51 votes needed to pass BBB
into law in the Senate -- it’s time for him to prove it. Just this
afternoon Senator Manchin gave a press conference withholding his support
for the Build Back Better Act. Given that, we’re holding strong: we need a
House vote on BBB and clear public commitments from both Senators Manchin
and Sinema to vote for that same BBB text before voting on the BIF in the
House. We expect a House vote on both bills later this week, and look
forward to the President securing Manchin and Sinema’s public support for
this critical bill.

Second, democracy: On Wednesday, we expect to see another failed
procedural vote on the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. We expect
Republicans to filibuster the bill -- just like they did with the Freedom
to Vote Act a few weeks ago -- teeing up a big filibuster showdown once
the Senate is done with reconciliation. The Senate must act now. Join one
of our Week of Action events next week.

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Your 5 weekly to-dos

 1. [ [link removed] ]Make calls on an inclusive recovery package before it’s too late!
The House could vote on an inclusive recovery bill any day now. This
means we’re in a key moment for advocacy as we fight to win the most
progressive reconciliation bill possible. With just a few days left
until the House vote, it is urgent that you call your representative
and tell them how important it is that we pass an inclusive recovery
bill that works for everyone. [ [link removed] ]Once you have called your
representative click here to call your senators and demand they pass
the bill immediately after the House sends it over.
 2. [ [link removed] ]Call your senator and demand they move quickly on the Freedom to
Vote Act. Senate Democrats have released a new version of their
democracy reform bill called the Freedom to Vote Act. The Freedom to
Vote Act builds on the For the People Act and brings us closer to
passing transformational democracy reform this Congress. Call your
senators and let them know you want them to adjust the filibuster now
to pass the Freedom to Vote Act.
 3. [ [link removed] ]Call your senator and tell them to protect Roe vs. Wade now. The
House has passed the Women's Health Protection Act, a bill aimed at
preserving access to an abortion nationwide, as Republican-led state
legislatures pass countless bills across the country threatening
abortion rights. The bill now has to pass a vote in the Senate, which
is why it is urgent that you call your senator and demand they protect
reproductive rights.

P.S. -- We’re able to fund the ads, call scripts, tools, and work of huge
weeks like last week because of the generous support of grassroots donors,
particularly recurring donors whose support we can count on every month.
