We’re one day out from the most important election of 2021, and FiveThirtyEight's polling average of the Virginia governor’s race shows a virtual TIE (well within the margin of error):

You know the consequences if this bellwether state’s government is seized by Republicans.
For Virginians, of course, it's likely to mean new voter suppression laws targeted at voters of color, Texas-style attacks on a woman’s right to choose, backsliding on vaccine and mask mandates, and an unprecedented level of access for far-right hate groups like the Family Research Council directly into the Governor’s mansion.
On the national level, though, it gets even worse. A Youngkin victory would deliver momentum towards Republicans trying to take control of Congress in the 2022 midterms, and also give a big boost to Donald Trump as he plans his big comeback in 2024.

Of course while we're going full speed on our get-out-the-vote push, we’re also paying very close attention to the polls ... and we’ve noticed something interesting.
If you look at polls of registered voters, you tend to see Democrat Terry McAuliffe with a slight lead.
But if you look at polls of likely voters, it’s far-right candidate Youngkin who seems to hold a slight lead.
So as most observers predicted, this election will come down to turnout -- and that’s exactly what People For’s biggest-ever Virginia electoral program has been designed to maximize in the last 24 hours of this election.
