This is it, John.
Earlier today, the Supreme Court began hearing arguments regarding Texas' draconian 6-week abortion ban.
What happens this week will set a critical legal precedent for defending abortion access across the country. Our movement needs to be ready to fight until we make abortion legal, accessible, and free for everyone in America.
John, we can’t emphasize enough the urgency of this moment.
SB 8 — Texas’ abortion ban that the Supreme Court is reviewing today — bans abortions as early as six weeks and puts the power of enforcement in anyone’s hands. Most people don’t even know they’re pregnant that early on and women in Texas are already experiencing the devastating impact of this cruel ban.
To make matters even worse, SB 8 is just one example of the hundreds of laws being passed around the country in an attempt to ban abortions and limit our access to reproductive freedom.
Let’s make this clear: This has been Trump and the GOP’s plan all along. This is why they stacked the Supreme Court with ultra-conservative justices like Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. This is why Mitch McConnell confirmed a record number of anti-abortion judges to courts across the country. They have a coordinated strategy to dismantle abortion rights and we must fight back together as a movement to stop their cruel, anti-women plans.
That’s why we called for Women’s Marchers to gather at courthouses across the country today to make our resistance clear. But we know that today is just the beginning: Fighting back against this slate of attacks is going to take millions of Women’s Marchers organizing together to make sure our rights are protected on the local and federal level — especially leading up to the next Supreme Court hearing regarding abortion access next month.
Together,
Women’s March
