Hi John,
November is Indigenous People's Month, and we are marking the moment with
our sixth and last Unapologetically Progressive event of the year: Unapologetically Progressive & Native.
These events are COMPLETELY FREE and virtual. They're also a great way to hear from our candidates with marginalized identities who can bring much-needed change to our politics.
So far, we've heard from folks who are unapologetically progressive and Black, women, LGBTQIA+, AAPI, and Latinx. Now we're finishing out the year with Indigenous voices.
Join our panel of Unapologetically Progressive & Native candidates and alumni on Wednesday, November 10th at 8 p.m. ET -- tickets are free!
Here's what underrepresentation for Native and Indigenous peoples looked like: There were only TWO Indigenous members of Congress in 2018. Now, it's five. The first Native American women weren't elected to Congress until 2018 (those would be Deb Haaland and Sharice Davids!).
The good news is: When Indigenous candidates run, they win! According to Indian Country Today, of the 114 Indigenous candidates who ran in 2020, 72 won (and 67 of those candidates were women).
We're really excited to close out this year's event series with this important group of alums and candidates. So get your ticket for Unapologetically Progressive & Native -- and we'll see you on November 10th!
