John,
Tomorrow is Election Day all across the country — and in Buffalo, India Walton is in the final stretch of her race for mayor.
India won the Democratic primary for mayor of Buffalo in early June. But her incumbent opponent, Byron Brown, is running a massive, corporate-funded write-in campaign to stop India and the progressive movement from making it to office — rather than accepting his loss.
What's more, the polls currently show Byron Brown in a lead — so we need to seize the power of the grassroots and build a wave of support for India to deliver a historic win for our movement, up until the very last minute.
This is an incredible opportunity for our movement to grow its momentum, John. If elected, India will become the city's first-ever socialist mayor, and the first socialist mayor of a large American city since 1960.
India plans to bring bold solutions to Buffalo such as permanently affordable housing, mental health responders, violence interruption programs, and worker-owned co-ops — unlike Brown who failed to provide any concrete solutions during the pandemic.
The people of Buffalo deserve better than an establishment incumbent who is quick to partner with right-wing lobbyists in order to hold political power. They deserve solutions to the challenges they're facing, and India is the progressive leader who will bring this change. Simply put — we need to elect more leaders who are rooted in their communities and have been doing the work for years, like India.
Thank you,
Team Bowman
