In 2020, our community saw a historic turnout of Muslim American voters across the United States. Our community was an integral part of changing the trajectory of this country. Through our historic Million Muslim Votes summit, we were proud to bring, for the first time, a presidential nominee to speak directly to our community on a public, national stage. Muslim Americans made headlines and have been identified as a key up-and-coming voting bloc.

Our work has just begun. We elect officials who support our values and will help us pass much needed legislation. This includes both foreign and domestic issues, which is why we cannot sit the upcoming local, municipal, and special elections out.

As a community, it is vital that we play an active role in our democracy, and following the success of the 2020 election, we are only scratching the surface of our potential.

I was an organizer working with candidates and campaigns for 8 years before joining Emgage. And the most important lesson from my previous work is this: candidates prioritize the voters who turn out consistently. They refer to them as "super voters." When crafting policy platforms, building coalitions, and voting on legislation, "super voters'' from lawmakers' districts stay on their mind. As a community, it should be the goal of every single one of us to distinguish ourselves as super voters. That is how we build power.
