The Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission is in the final stages of creating new maps for state House, state Senate and Congress. These maps will be used for the next 10 years.

It has never been more important to speak up for fair maps! Fair maps don’t benefit either political party and include fair representation for Michigan’s diverse population.

Republicans are actively working to sabotage the process by telling the commission that partisan fairness doesn't matter. Michigan voters passed Prop 2 to rid the state of rigged elections and finally create a level playing field.

This is the last chance to advocate for partisan fairness before our options are locked in!

Speak up for partisan fairness!

  • Your job is to get as close to zero on the partisan bias scores as possible. If you’re over 1%, you still have work to do.
  • “Communities of interest” is NOT an excuse to pack voters of a particular party into fewer and fewer districts to weaken their voice.
  • A map is not fair if one party can win a majority of the seats while losing a majority of the votes
  • We voted for Prop 2 in 2018 to rid Michigan of the rigged system. We want fair maps that create a level playing field.
  • No one on the Commission should vote to approve a map that gives a disproportionate advantage to one political party.
  • Do not approve any map that doesn’t comply with the Voting Rights Act. We want to see more Black and Brown voices elected to serve Michigan, not fewer.

Thanks!
