On Wednesday, November 3, the Supreme Court of the United States is set to hear oral arguments in the most significant 2nd Amendment case since the Heller ruling over ten years ago. New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruenchallenges New York’s “may-issue” law that requires law-abiding citizens to convince state licensing officials that they “need” to carry a firearm before they can receive a license to carry and before they can exercise their right to bear arms. Even though this case is being litigated on the other side of the country, GOC filed an amicus (friend of the court) brief, because the stakes for every state in the nation are extremely high, as a positive ruling could very well establish a legal precedent for other states – including California.
GOC will be listening to the arguments as they happen, and you can too. CLICK HERE TO LISTEN. (On the Court’s home page, click on “Oral Arguments” for options to listen.)
GOC has been dubbed the “friend of the court” wrangler because we are willing to jump in and help with 2A cases here in California and across the nation – this is incredibly important work and we invite you to JOIN US to expand our sphere of legal and legislative influence! We can’t do this without you and other 2A supporters!
In other news, it's been said that the Left never lets a tragedy go to waste and this is certainly true in the wake of the Alec Baldwin shooting tragedy. A California legislator has already indicated she will introduce legislation to further regulate firearms on movie sets. Maybe Hollywood might actually feel the sting of their own Left-wing policies – they make no secret of their disgust for guns and the 2A, but they sure don’t mind making millions of dollars off gun-heavy storylines. Get out the popcorn…
