Today, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in United States v. Texas and Whole Woman's Health v. Jackson, two lawsuits challenging Texas’ egregious S.B. 8 abortion ban that went into effect September 1.
This horrific ban is putting real lives at risk and traumatizing countless pregnant Texans in the process — and it’s unfortunately not surprising that the Supreme Court has already squandered two opportunities to halt it.
Just last week thousands of people — including several lawmakers — engaged in our rally to push for Court expansion on the steps of the Court and across the country. But while the number of Americans, including Congressional members, questioning the Court’s legitimacy grows every day, the 6-3 conservative supermajority continues to consider cases that could destroy reproductive freedoms for millions of us.
Time is running out. We need to expand the Court before it’s too late — and we need your help to get there.

At last week’s rally, Senator Tina Smith passionately spoke about how the Supreme Court is responsible for the destruction of reproductive rights in Texas:
“...today, in Texas, there are women that are just learning that they are pregnant and learning that there is nothing that they can do about making their choices in Texas because of the Supreme Court. That is wrong. The Supreme Court in Texas is blatantly allowing an unconstitutional law to stay in effect, and that is exactly why we need to regain and restore balance to the United States Supreme Court.”
Justice Amy Coney Barrett was jammed onto the bench just days before an election to fulfill Republicans’ decades-long mission to overturn our abortion rights. The only way to stop this attack is to expand the Court. More than 40 members of Congress and thousands of people like you recognize that.
