NEWS FROM POWER TO DECIDE
It’s Nearly Thanks, Birth Control Day
On November 17, the nation celebrates #ThxBirthControl Day, 24-hours dedicated to acknowledging all the wonderful things birth control makes possible. To help you celebrate the day, we've created an online toolkit—including suggested social media language, data showing birth control’s broad support, and our newest GIFs. You can access it here.
You can also get ready for Thanks, Birth Control day by spreading the word among friends and professional networks, buying #ThxBirthControl merchandise in our store, and making a tax-deductible donation.
Wrapping Up Let’s Talk Month
Over the last month, we celebrated Let’s Talk month by publishing a number of blogs, personal narratives, and resources to help you talk to friends, family, and the young people in your life. Read this recap of everything that happened this month and check out all of our Let’s Talk materials. Although October and Let’s Talk Month are ending, don’t stop having powerful conversations with those around you.
Hurry! One Key Question® Discount Ends Soon
A discount on One Key Question (OKQ) has been extended through November 17. Now is the time for individuals or groups—clinical and non-clinical alike—to sign up for our OKQ online training. OKQ seeks to make screening for pregnancy desire a routine part of health care. OKQ is patient-centered and equally supports those who want to get pregnant, those who do not, and those who are ambivalent.
Until November 17, individuals and groups who sign up in October will receive a 20% discount off the cost of the training. The discount also applies to those interested in bunding OKQ with our Pathways to Care training. The training offers a deep dive into how to offer preconception and contraception counseling and care in a personalized, non-judgmental, and unbiased way. Discounts will also be offered to those interested in receiving continuing education credits with their training.
Individuals can sign up directly in our online shop. Those interested in group training should contact Bill Albert at Power to Decide ([email protected]).
New Educational Materials on Birth Control for People with Rheumatic Diseases
Bedsider partnered with experts at the American College of Rheumatology to create new materials on birth control specifically for people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases like fibromyalgia, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis. New Video Emphasize the Importance of Blood Pressure Awareness
Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a major risk factor for heart disease and one of the leading—and most preventable—contributors to maternal mortality, especially among Black women. Family planning providers can play an important role in mitigating hypertension-related health outcomes, which can have a significant effect on reproductive and maternal health. In a new video, our CEO, Dr. Raegan McDonald-Mosley, talks about the impact of social and structural determinants of health, health and racial equity, and what family planning providers can do to intervene.
Method Postcards Now Available in Spanish
We’re excited to now offer all our method postcards in Spanish. Each postcard has just the right amount of detail so people can understand and compare all their birth control options. Check them out in our store alongside other Spanish-language materials.
