Race Forward is proud to present Decision-making for Racial Equity (DRE), the newest training in our Building Racial Equity series, which focuses on providing a framework that disrupts dominant forms of decision-making that can perpetuate racial bias. The Decision-making for Racial Equity (DRE) training was created for teams and organizations ready to operationalize racial equity into their policies, processes, and decisions.

Register: December 13th Training

Through the use of Race Forward’s Racial Equity Decision-Making tool (“RED Tool”), participants will be guided in building an organization-wide racial equity decision-making practice and culture that centers Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian-American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander staff and their communities.

In this training, participants will:

  • Learn and identify ways that dominant practices and patterns of power and decision-making can perpetuate systemic racism
  • Develop a decision-making framework that centers racial equity
  • Explore how to use the Racial Equity Decision-Making Tool (“RED Tool”)
  • Identify a Choice Point and practice using the RED Tool
  • Develop next steps for applying the RED Tool in a workplace setting

Prerequisite: Participants are required to first participate in our (BRE) Building Racial Equity: Fundamentals training

We look forward to having you and your organization join us as we work together to institutionalize racial equity to ensure policies and decisions center people of color.

During these trying times, it's important to share the small things that keep us going. In this edition, we hear from our Senior Director for Federal Strategies, Carlton Eley.

"When I start the day I like to tune into the South Pacific sounds from Āti Awa Toa FM. It broadcasts from Waiwhetu (Lower Hutt) in Aotearoa (New Zealand), and the radio station is operated by the tribal authority “Te Rūnanganui o Te Āti Awa”. From 8AM to 3PM ET, the radio station is a fantastic outlet for listening to soulful music and reggae sounds in Te Reo Māori."
