John — The Glasgow international climate conference is starting this week, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. The Glasgow conference presents a major opportunity to bring the world together to agree on crucial measures needed to limit the worst extremes of the climate crisis. But unfortunately, according to a UN report released in the lead up to the conference, the current climate pledges by the nations of the world fall far short of what is needed to keep the global temperature rise to only 1.5C.

According to the report, recently updated pledges by countries would only achieve an additional 7.5% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to previous pledges. But to keep warming to 1.5C, cuts in emissions would need to reach 55%.

In other words, we’re not even close.

But this goal is still achievable if the U.S. stands up and demonstrates its leadership to the rest of the world. That is why SEEC members are joining President Biden and his cabinet at the conference to show the world our commitment and resolve to fight to protect our planet.

SEEC members are putting it all on the line to push the United States to fight for the strongest commitments possible. Will you support them in this work by rushing a donation today? [[link removed]]

DONATE $20.22 [[link removed]]SEEC Co-Chair Rep. Gerry Connolly has argued that Biden re-joining the Paris Climate Accords was only a “very basic first step” and the time is now ripe to go further. He is pushing for more specifics around different emissions, saying: “I think we need the lead in making commitments and getting commitments.”

SEEC member Rep. Nanette Barragán addressed how important it was to make domestic climate accomplishments in order to push the rest of the world to follow: “The more we can give [President Biden], the better I think it will be not just for him but for the country and for the future.”

The time is now, John. Will you rush a donation to help our SEEC members in fighting for ambitious climate action both here at home and abroad? [[link removed]]
