John,

We are pleased to announce that the Governor’s Crime Commission (GCC) has picked Community Violence Intervention (CVI) programs as a priority to receive grant funding. This is a direct result of NCGV working with our coalition partners to educate the GCC about the importance of CVI programs.

Applications for GCC grants open today and are due no later than January 31st. If you or someone that you know is interested in creating or expanding a CVI program, please go to this webpage to learn more about the GCC grants.

Please let us know of your interest. Governmental bodies and non-profit agencies are eligible for this funding.

CVI programs work with high risk individuals to mediate conflicts and provide much needed social services. The people working with these individuals are also community members and have the trust of residents in these hardest hit areas. In short, these programs address gun violence as the public health crisis that it is. Read more about CVI programs here.

This is a tremendous win for gun violence prevention in NC!

Thank you,
Becky

PS - Save the Date! Our Annual Meeting will be on December 13th from 7-8pm on Zoom. Stay tuned for more details closer to the event.
