Dear John,

On behalf of Women Winning, we’re writing you today to share the news that our President, Meggie Wittorf, will be leaving Women Winning. We are grateful for Meggie's powerful leadership and for leaving the organization in a fantastic position for the important work ahead.

We all aspire to leave an organization better than when we arrived. In Meggie’s case that is absolutely true. Under Meggie’s leadership, record numbers of pro-choice women ran for and won elected office, changing the face of power across Minnesota. Our determined coalition of volunteers, partners, and donors has significantly expanded, enabling the organization to double programming and establish the infrastructure needed to support pro-choice women from the day they announce their candidacy to their victorious election day. Meggie’s vision and tenacity brought new energy to Women Winning. She also brought together an incredibly talented staff, who are more than ready to take on the fight ahead to protect choice and advance women’s leadership.

For all of us who know Meggie, it is no surprise that she is already working to facilitate a smooth transition and we know she will continue advancing the critical work of Women Winning as an advocate and a dear friend.

With threats to reproductive rights at all levels of government, and women still underrepresented at the tables of power, our work to ensure pro-choice women are elected is more important than ever. The 2022 Midterm Election will determine reproductive rights for generations to come and because of our strong coalition, Women Winning will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in every race.

In the coming weeks we will begin the search for a new Executive Director with the goal of having someone in place early in the new year. In the meantime, we are working to bring on an Interim Executive Director. Watch for more information coming soon.

A message from Meggie:

Powerful Pro-choice Women Candidates, Partners, and Friends,

It has been a tremendous honor serving Women Winning and partnering with you in the fight for reproductive rights and women’s leadership. This work is worthy and inspiring.

Every day I had the opportunity to work with pro-choice women who believe in themselves and with partners who believe in the power of pro-choice women’s leadership -- who believe in the world we deserve and can unlock with leadership that reflects all of us.

Every day I had the opportunity to work with teammates who were energized to go harder, to think differently, and to break down barriers. To serve alongside people who see the double-standards you see and then jump at the chance to improve it … it is remarkable.

During our time together, we’ve changed the face of power. The Minnesota Federal Delegation now leads the nation with 50% pro-choice women. The Minnesota State Legislature saw a +43% increase in pro-choice women’s representation. Historic firsts have increasingly demanded institutions hear the voices and experiences of people traditionally left out of the political process. With every election, we’re expanding the narrative on what leadership looks like.

Together, we’ve accomplished so much, but this work is far from over. With Roe at risk and every legislative and statewide constitutional seat on the ballot in 2022, it is critical we elect our best advocates. I am confident that the Women Winning team has never been stronger or more prepared to meet the moment.

While I will miss working shoulder-to-shoulder with each one of you, I am encouraged to know that you’ll continue to elect and empower our future leaders. I’m grateful for all of the ways you’ve invested in Women Winning to make it the leading organization for pro-choice women’s politics in our state.

It has been the greatest honor to be a small part of something with such monumental impact.
