Team Julián is fired up after an unforgettable trip to Iowa!

Julián's first stop was at the Progress Iowa Corn Feed in Cedar Rapids. He was greeted with great enthusiasm as he spoke about key policies like his People First Immigration plan. The crowd especially resonated with his family's experience with immigration.

Unifying stories of immigration continued to be shared with Julián at an Immigration Town Hall attended by around 200 people. The town hall was hosted in Mount Pleasant, a community that was largely affected by ICE raids last year. Many people shared their own stories of resilience and how they have come together to stand up for one another.

On Monday in rural Keokuk, Iowa, Secretary Castro held a meet-and-greet at the Keokuk Labor Temple, where more than a hundred residents asked questions about health care, immigration, trade, and education, in a town of less than 10,000.

"Castro's probably my favorite candidate among the men in the race," said Sandy Bertucci. "It made me feel good," said Amy Johnson, a second grade teacher in Keokuk. "It made me feel like we are, as a nation, wanting to come together as a nation to figure stuff out. Because somethings got to be done."

Julián then joined Muscatine Mayor Diana Broderson, Councilman Kelcey Brackett and LULAC Iowa President Nick Salazar in a walking tour of Muscatine's local businesses.

Tuesday was a busy day!

In the morning, Julián joined Fight for 15 Iowa in a march for $15 minimum wage and union rights outside the AARP forum.

Then, Julián joined the AARP forum to share how he would address age discrimination, healthcare, housing and Social Security.

Our trip to Iowa finished with a great event hosted by LULAC Council 10 - the largest chapter in the United States.

A special thank you to LULAC Council 10 President Jazmin Newton for hosting and organizing!

Thank you Iowa -- we'll keep y'all posted on our visits throughout the country!
