Youngkin’s Lead in Virginia Inches to Full Point

After McAuliffe had a clear lead in the Virginia race for governor to start the month. He led or was tied in 17 straight polls in the Real Clear Politics average until recently (RCP). From Jennifer Harper: Should Republican hopeful Glenn Youngkin vanquish former Gov. Terry McAuliffe on Tuesday, the GOP victory could signal either renewed power for the Republican Party, the return of former President Donald Trump — or both. Naturally, the press is getting nervous (Washington Times). McAuliffe appears to have changed his strategy over the weekend as it was failing miserably (Fox News). Another poll has the race as a toss-up (Washington Post).

Supreme Court to Hear Arguments on Abortion Restrictions Today

Starting with the Texas heartbeat bill (Fox News).  But, from the Wall Street Journal editorial board: Despite what you read in the press, abortion rights aren’t directly at issue in either case. The Court rejected Texas’s request to discuss the law’s merits on abortion. Instead, the Court will consider in Whole Woman’s Health v. Austin Reeve Jackson whether Texas can dodge federal court review by outsourcing enforcement to private parties. The question in U.S. v. Texas is whether the Justice Department can seek an injunction in federal court against the state (WSJ).

Study Finds a Third of White Students Lie About Their Race on College Applications

As they discover being a minority helps them in the admissions process (The Hill). While the story landed over a week ago, the controversy is just heating up (Twitter/Twitter).

Biden’s Job Approval Continues to Sink

Even long after the media stopped reporting on the Afghanistan disaster.  NBC News finds his approval at 42 percent (it was 49 percent in August.) (NBC News).  From Kevin McCullough: Their moderates have lost most battles with their fringe extremists. They have no legislative wins to brag about. They’ve exposed their true anti-American agenda. They’ve been caught red-handed lying to the American people, as well as lying under oath to the United States Senate. They are implementing authoritarianism at the city, state, and federal government levels. Inflation is sky-rocketing. They bungled the worst exit we’ve ever conducted from a theater of war. They literally gave the same terrorists we’ve been attempting to keep at bay for two decades their own sandbox to go back to training in. They ended our energy independence, killed ten of thousands of jobs for pipeline workers, and denied our right to a pipeline, all while doing the opposite for the Russians. The *President is owned by China—our most lethal and destabilizing threat. They are denying therapeutic cures for the pandemic that have ended other nations’ new cases of CoVid19. They are telling parents we have no right to stop public educators who have simultaneously promised to teach racism to our children. They’ve even labeled as “phony culture wars” the objections of parents who don’t want their daughters raped in school bathrooms by skirt-wearing boys—even AFTER it has happened. They are doubling down on mandates, and more (Townhall).

Southwest Pilot Under Fire for Saying “Let’s Go Brandon” Over Intercom

Caution: due to the nature of how this began, this is a dicey subject for our audience – which is why we avoided it until now. CNN, the network who relentlessly (and continues to this day) ridiculed President Trump, is most upset (RedState). Southwest is launching an internal investigation (NY Post) and has criticized the pilot (Fox Business).  When they did this to Trump, the left cheered (Twitter). From Karol Markowicz: What’s interesting about the pilot story is it seems like the first time the left has encountered someone being overtly political at their job and it being annoying. For the right, that’s regular life. Shut up and fly, right? (Twitter).

Police Leaving New York City for Suffolk County Over Vaccine Mandate

From the story: Suffolk County is set to dramatically boost its police ranks — including by potentially siphoning off cops from the NYPD who are furious over the Big Apple’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate. Democratic County Executive Steve Bellone will announce Monday that he is hiring 705 law-enforcement personnel, bucking the “defund the police’ movement in his own party, sources said.

LA Sheriff: Public in Danger as Vaccine Mandate Costs Department Jobs

From the story: Sheriff Alex Villanueva, who has said he won’t enforce the county’s order that took effect Oct. 1, said Thursday that up to 30 percent of the department’s 18,000 employees are “no longer available” to provide service following the Board of Supervisors mandate for all 110,000 employees. “We are experiencing an increase in unscheduled retirements, worker compensation claims, employees quitting, and a reduction in qualified applicants,” Villanueva said in a statement obtained by The Post. “As a result, homicide rates will continue to rise, response times will increase, solve rates will diminish, arrests will decline, patrol services will significantly decline, and patrol stations will close.”
