Hi John, Truth to Power here.
This Halloween night, families across the country are preparing for a night of celebration. Neighbors are making last-minute candy runs to the grocery store, and kids are carefully (or chaotically) applying paint to their face to get out on the doors.
We love Halloween, John, and any holiday that celebrates us saying hello to our neighbors. In the last years of this pandemic, there are so few days that we’ve been able to greet each other. We hope this Halloween night brings you some joy and togetherness, and reminds you of the power of knocking on someone’s door to say hello.
In the coming year, we’re going to be knocking on a lot of doors. The end of this month also marks a one-year countdown to the general election in 2022. Candidates for local and national office are saying hello to their neighbors, getting to know them, and asking them to get out the vote. The foundation of organizing is when we can create structures that celebrate our communities, lift us all up, and enthusiastically work towards a brighter future.
Tonight at 11:59 PM is the end-of-month deadline for our movement to speak Truth to Power, John. Will you be one of the 63 people that we need to meet our end-of-month goal? A contribution from Washington would really make us smile tonight.

If you’re celebrating Halloween tonight, John, We hope you can take a moment to think about the bright year we have ahead, and the many doors and many conversations that await us. That’s how we win—by saying hello.
And we hope you have an extra few pieces of candy—we all deserve it.
In gratitude,
Truth to Power
