John,

A huge source of hope and progressive power is local governments that have transformative leaders fighting tirelessly for racial and economic justice.

Two of these leaders are Tameika Isaac Devine and Sharetta Smith -- progressive Black women who DFA has endorsed for mayor in key elections this year. DFA members have already shown this year that we can transform our cities into progressive strongholds when they helped elect Tishaura Jones as Mayor of St. Louis.

We can raise the minimum wage, protect immigrants and refugees, hold violent police departments accountable, and break the school-to-prison pipeline. We can stop corporate tax giveaways and instead invest in public services so that all families can thrive.

Tameika Isaac Devine in Columbia, South Carolina, and Sharetta Smith in Lima, Ohio both have elections this Tuesday. Can you volunteer for their mayoral campaigns between now and election day to help send these rock stars to City Hall?

Tameika Isaac Devine, running for Mayor of Columbia, South Carolina has been a city council member for nearly two decades and is a powerhouse progressive running against a Republican candidate spreading lies about polling locations. Since 2002, Tameika has led numerous initiatives including establishing a nationally recognized homeless court and serving as co-chair of a Work Initiative Program that trains unemployed and underemployed people in workforce skills.

Sharetta Smith, running for Mayor of Lima, Ohio is a true progressive leader who is fighting hard for our values. With over a decade of experience working in the judicial and executive branches of local government beginning with her service as an Assistant District Public Defender and most recently as Chief of Staff for the City of Lima under Lima Mayor David Berger, Sharetta has worked tirelessly to build trust between community leaders and City Hall.

Local officials are key to progressive power. They often get less attention from reporters and pundits but these elected offices are more important than ever. They can make changes in people's lives right away and truly represent their interests.

Can you help GOTV for Sharetta and Tameika before Tuesday?
