John --
I want to make one thing 100% clear:
I'm not
going anywhere! While I may not be seeking re-election to the House
of Representatives, this isn't resignation, concession, or giving up.
This isn't a win for Donald Trump, no matter what his Mar-a-Lago spin
machine says. I still have more than one year of my term to serve and
will continue to be a forceful voice -- including on the 1/6
Committee.
Even better, my team can now focus its time and
resources to dramatically scale Country First, rather than an
all-consuming race for a single seat in a large house. This allows us
to make a much bigger difference and impact. It's just the beginning
of my political future, not the end.
Yesterday, I launched a
brand new video that shares exactly why the Country First movement is
so needed RIGHT NOW. It's on the front page of country1st.com,
and I hope you'll watch and share with your family, friends,
colleagues, and anyone else who cares more about our country than
their tribe.
I still need and appreciate your support -- thank you for being
part of this movement!
Country First,
Adam

Committee Weekly Digest
Country First is proud to launch The Weekly Digest to highlight the
important work of the January 6th Select Committee. Each week that the
committee makes news, we’ll provide a recap on the its work to make
sure you’re up to date.
In Case You Missed It:

about the resolution to hold Steve Bannon in Contempt of
Congress.
- Rep. Kinzinger speaking
on the floor of the House of Representatives prior to voting to hold
Steve Bannon in Contempt of Congress
- Rep. Kinzinger on MSNBC discussing
the work of the January 6th Select Committee.
Here are the major developments from this past week:
House of Representatives Votes to
Hold Steve Bannon in Contempt of Congress
The House voted
last Thursday to hold former Trump advisor Steve Bannon in Contempt of
Congress after he failed to comply with a subpoena from the January
6th Select Committee. The final vote was 229-202, with nine Republican
members standing up to defend the rule of law: Reps. Adam Kinzinger,
Liz Cheney, Brian Fitzpatrick, Anthony Gonzalez (OH), Jamie Herrera
Buetler, John Katko, Nancy Mace, Peter Meijer, and Frank Upton. Rep.
Greg Pence, brother of the former Vice President, did not
vote.
"Mr. Bannon’s willful disregard for the Select
Committee’s subpoena demonstrates his utter contempt for the American
people’s right to know how the attacks on January 6 came about,” said
Rep. Kinzinger in a speech prior to the vote. "He has
advanced a ludicrous legal argument in support of his decision not to
cooperate or comply—a decision that defies the rule of law and rejects
the will of the American people."
"Mr. Bannon's own public
statements make clear he knew what was going to happen before it did,
and thus he must have been aware of and may well have been involved in
the planning of everything that played out on that day," said Rep.
Cheney, Vice Chair of the January 6th Select Committee, in a speech on
the House floor. "The American people deserve to know what he knew and
what he did."
The bipartisan vote resulted in a referral being
sent to the Department of Justice to prosecute Mr. Bannon. If
convicted, he could face up to 1 year in prison and a fine of up to
$100,000.
January 6th Attack Organizers
Allegedly Met with Members of Congress and White House
Staff
Two people who organized the January 6th attack claimed to have had
dozens of planning meetings with Members of Congress and White House
Staff, according to Rolling
Stone. The two sources have been in communication with
congressional investigators and named former White House Chief of
Staff Mark Meadows among those they met with prior to the “Stop the
Steal” rally. In addition, they claimed that members of Congress who
took part in planning meetings or who were represented by senior staff
members include
Reps. Andy Biggs, Lauren Boebert, Mo Brooks, Madison Cawthorn, Louie
Gohmert, Paul Gosar, and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Both sources
claim that Rep.
Gosar offered a “blanket pardon” for an ongoing unrelated
investigation, encouraging the planning meetings for January 6th to
continue. One source mentioned the pardon being discussed in the Oval
Office and the possibility of getting support from the House Freedom
Caucus.
The two sources said
they came forward because they believe the January 6th Select
Committee is “all we got as far as being able to uncover the truth
about what happened at the Capitol that day.” Both still doubt the
legitimacy of the election, but name Trump as one of the “bad actors
[who] set out to cause chaos.”
Reps. Boebert, Brooks, Gohmert,
and Greene have denied participating in planning the attack on the
Capitol.
Other news that may be of
interest:
- The White House denied
Trump’s request to invoke executive privilege.
- John Eastman, the lawyer who authored a legal strategy for Trump
to overturn the results of the 2020 election on January 6, may soon be
subpoenaed
by the January 6th Select Committee.
- The January 6th Select Committee continues to investigate the
command
center at the Willard Hotel.
- At least five former White House staffers are speaking
with the January 6th Select Committee.
Country First is proud to release The Weekly Digest with important
updates on the 1/6 Committee's investigation of the Capitol attack. If
