Friend -- this is the dark money playbook.

Out-of-state groups with deep pockets spend big in the 3rd district over a year before the election. They soften the ground early with dishonest, negative attacks on Dean because they think our grassroots movement isn't ready to respond.

We have to prove them wrong. Preserving our progress and protecting Dean's seat in 2020 depends on it.

We need to raise an additional $12,000 online in order to account for the dark money that's already coming into our district. Can you chip in to help us reach our goal by midnight on Thursday?

This is a grassroots, people-powered campaign. We don't have the ability to hit the airwaves a year before election day.

But every dollar that you chip in allows us to reach voters, recruit volunteers, and have the conversations that we need to win in 2020. It supports the hard, person-to-person groundwork that we'll need to counteract the attacks coming our way.

I need to tell Dean that we're going to hit this number for October. If we slip behind, our opponent and the special interests backing him will notice -- and they'll pounce. Can you make a difference for our campaign?
