For decades, police foundations have funneled corporate donations, military-grade equipment, and surveillance tools to police departments with zero oversight.
And this month, the NYC Police Foundation celebrated its 50th anniversary — 50 years supplementing NYPD’s massive $11 BILLION budget with the help of corporations like Bank of America, ViacomCBS, Amazon, and more.
John, police foundations and their corporate enablers get away with funding police violence because almost no one has called them out for it...until now.
Color Of Change’s groundbreaking police foundations report and Times Square billboard are sending a powerful message to police foundations and their corporate donors: We see you, and we will hold you accountable. Stop funding violent, militarized policing that threatens Black people and puts our communities in danger.Â
A billboard in Times Square (directly across the street from an NYPD precinct) is only the beginning. That’s why we need help from supporters like you to keep up the fight and amplify our demand for accountability.
If you are able, please make a powerful investment in our campaign to end corporate-funded policing, John:

With a budget of 11 billion dollars a year, there’s no reason why the NYPD needs additional funds from big banks, massive media companies, and private donors.
But there IS a reason why police departments rely on police foundations: The police use private, corporate money to purchase weapons and fund programs that probably wouldn’t be approved by elected officials.
The NYPD doesn’t want us to know where their private funding is coming from or how it’s being spent. Even after committing to disclose this information last year, both the NYPD and the NYC Police Foundation have gone silent.2
We won’t let them dodge accountability, John, and we need your help to win.
Chip in $10 or whatever you can to keep our Times Square billboard up and hold police foundations accountable nationwide.
