John,
We are a week away from an Election Day that could have huge consequences for our environment.
This year Tim Eyman is back with a misleading, confusing initiative (I-976) that would slash state and local transportation budgets and lead to dramatic increases in climate pollution for Washington state.
That is why WCV is out talking to voters about why they should vote NO on I-976.
And with your support we can reach even more voters before Election Day.
Donate to WCV today and your gift will be tripled! [[link removed]]
I-976 removes $4 billion from the state’s budget to invest in pedestrian, bike, and transit efforts and cuts $60 million in funding every year for 63 cities across Washington. That means more cars on our roads and more greenhouse gas emissions from our state.
Transportation already accounts for nearly 50% of Washington’s greenhouse gas emissions.
This initiative would undermine our ability to invest in improvements like expanding transit, building voter-approved projects, and improving freight corridors -- all tools for us to address our emissions.
We are facing a climate crisis and I-976 reduces the options we have to address it. Your support now will help us inform more people in Washington of the harmful impacts of I-976.
Any gifts made before October 31st will be triple-matched and will go to work right away. [[link removed]]
I-976 will take us backward on climate action, and you and I know that we need to take action now. Washington can’t afford to wait.
Thank you,
Kat Holmes
