Following the 2017 Virginia elections -- in which PFAW helped secure historic progressive victories, majority control of the House of Delegates came down to a single TIED race which the Republican won by having his name randomly chosen from a bowl!
What an amazing illustration of the principle that every vote counts!
This year we have districts that are slightly less gerrymandered in the GOP's favor ... we have 40 amazing PFAW-endorsed candidates statewide for state and local office ... and we have a fired up national membership (that's you!) who knows how important these elections in Virginia are, not only to progress in this key swing state, but to nationwide progressive victories in 2020 and beyond.
Election Day is just ONE WEEK from today and we're pulling out all the stops to FLIP the Virginia legislature from red to blue, because of all that will mean.
We're on the air, on the ground, and on the phones reaching out to thousands and thousands of Virginia voters in the closest, most consequential races but we need you with us if we're going to get across the finish line next week with the game-changing progressive victory we need!

You can tell from all the right-wing money and help from national GOP leaders pouring into the state that Republicans get what's at stake in Virginia...
Well, we get it too! That's why in addition to radio and digital ads aimed at turning out the Latino vote, we're directly supporting 40 candidates, we're hosting phone banks, turning volunteers out to canvasses, exposing racist right-wing smears against progressive candidates, and even bringing in national progressive leaders and celebrities to help generate attention for our candidates in some of the tightest races.
(For example, PFAW grabbed dozens of headlines in major area news outlets last week when we brought in Alec Baldwin to knock on doors with some of our endorsed candidates and help fire up their volunteers.)
We're fighting to reclaim progressive power in the states, win vital Democratic control over the redistricting process, and nurture a crop of progressive officeholders well positioned to win in their districts, statewide, and in future pursuits of federal office.
And it's ALL on the line in Virginia this year...

Democratic majorities in Virginia will mean stopping Republican gerrymandering (including of congressional seats) for the next decade....
It will mean the difference between Virginians having health care coverage, common-sense gun reform, a living wage, more investment in education, equality for LGBTQ people, and access to abortion care...
It will mean we'll have the chance to make Virginia the 38th state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment and we could finally win the long fought battle to get it into the Constitution...
And it will mean absolutely VITAL momentum for progressives as we head into the 2020 elections.
