Friend,
If media outlets like us—those that refuse to take corporate
sponsorship, sell ad space, and mine personal data for profit—are not
supported by their readers, there is simply no way for them to survive.
And this means no Common Dreams.
With social media giants like Facebook and search behemoths like Google
controlling so much of what we see and hear, it is imperative that media
outlets that champion democratic values, visionary solutions, and a
progressive agenda have a place.
There's no magic to our funding model. If we reach our goal, we can
continue our work. If we do not reach our goal, we will have no choice
but to scale back our efforts—or shut down entirely.
It's not a gimmick. It's not hyperbole. It's the only way nonprofit,
independent media survive.
We're nearing the end of our Fall Campaign. We are $35,000 behind where
we need to be.
If things don't dramatically improve, we won't make it—not this time.
