Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

This week, I remained in Washington, D.C. for votes in the U.S. House of Representatives. I attended Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy’s Roundtable to discuss the Democrats’ anti-American energy agenda. I also was honored to be presented with In Defense of Christians’ Congressional Champion Award for introducing the Semele Massacre Remembrance Resolution, which commemorates the Semele Massacre of 1933 when the Iraqi armed forces brutally massacred an estimated 3,000 unarmed Assyrian men, women, and children. I'm proud to support this important legislation!

I also joined my colleagues in wearing pink to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Congress stands together to raise awareness and encourage early screening.

I also spoke on the House Floor against the Democrats' policies that lead to rising prices and harm Americans! Americans are already having to pay more for gas, electricity, and food due to inflation. With the Democrats’ natural gas tax, they are making it even more expensive for Americans to heat their homes!

Leader's Roundtable

This week, I attended a roundtable with my Republican colleagues on exposing the Democrats’ gas price hike. In the Democrats’ multi-trillion-dollar Tax and Spending Spree bill, they are pushing their most radical energy agenda yet and are putting America last. At the roundtable, I discussed how Biden's anti-American energy agenda is resulting in Americans paying more for electricity, gas, and heating. Americans are already hurting due to inflation and a natural gas tax will only hurt them more financially. This tax is advertised as a solution for climate change, but in reality, it is an added tax on the American people. We must focus on advancing common sense solutions to address climate issues. Watch my full remarks in the roundtable below!

Legislative Update

I cosponsored Congresswoman Ashley Hinson’s (R-IA-01) Protecting Financial Privacy Act to ensure that the bank accounts of Americans are not monitored by the IRS. The IRS has no business spying on your bank account!

I am proud to cosponsor Congressman Darrell Issa’s (R-CA-50) Stand with Parents Resolution to ensure that parents are not silenced by the Democrats! Parents voicing concern with their children’s school board officials are NOT domestic terrorists.

GET THE FACTS: Gender Neutral Toys

As you may have heard, California Governor Gavin Newsom has enacted a law which requires retailers in California to have a gender-neutral toy section in their stores. This is pure government overreach. The government should not dictate if retailers offer gender-neutral sections for children's items and toys. Parents should decide what is right for their children.

Encouraging Story

I am pleased to share this story about the Goodyear Police Department working to help those that are currently experiencing homelessness. They have a designated outreach team that drives around Goodyear, AZ to look for individuals that appear to be homeless and offer them assistance. I’m so proud of these dedicated heroes in our community.

Casework Highlight

A veteran who served 22 years and retired from service contacted our office because his retirement was not documented correctly in the military records system. This prevented him from enrolling in his post-service healthcare for him and his family. After many attempts to correct this issue on his own, our office contacted the U.S. Army and were able to have his records update to reflect his retirement. He now is eligible for the healthcare benefits he earned from his service.

Mobile Office Hours

Our office is hosting mobile office hours on November 15, 2021, at the Goodyear Library Community Room from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM AZ time. Our casework team is ready to answer your questions and assist you if you are having issues with a federal agency.
