Halloween on South Beach: In recent years, Stephen Wilkes, photographer and Nat Geo Explorer, has been known for his sweeping, stitched-together one-of-a-kind images of momentous scenes. Last year, Wilkes used his Day to Night technique on a lighter event—Halloween on Miami’s South Beach. The overall composite image, above, was made from 180 photographs, less than a sixth of the 1,216 frames shot over 27 hours. Below, a detail of costumed revelers.
