In less than one year, our seat will be up for re-election.
Hi, John — it's Cori.
I know my team has been reaching out to you this week about our end-of-month deadline tomorrow at midnight. I wanted to reach out myself and share why this goal is so critical to the future of our movement.
In less than one year, our seat will be up for re-election.
John, I never saw myself getting involved in politics, much less running for office. But thanks to the power of this grassroots community, we defeated a 20-year incumbent to make me the first activist from the movement in defense of Black lives elected to Congress.
This movement has had my back at every turn, but our work isn't finished yet. People are still going to bed hungry. Folks in St. Louis are still being evicted in the midst of an ever-changing pandemic. And the climate crisis threatens us all. We need to pass critical legislation including Medicare for All, the Green New Deal for Cities, and the People's Response Act — Americans are counting on us.
I can't do this alone, John. If you're with me in this work, will you please chip in $5 before tomorrow's deadline to help build this grassroots movement for bold, progressive change?
Chip in $5
I remember the first time I saw my name on a ballot. I was overwhelmed as I remembered all of the reasons I'd decided to run — to protect my kids from being the next children killed by police, to ensure no one else would go without a home or food as I had done, and to create a new kind of politics that works for regular, everyday people.
John, we won our race last year by just three points, so the GOP isn't going to make this easy on us. Already the far-right and Fox News have attacked me for bringing my full self to Congress.
I won't apologize, and I won't stop telling our stories. But I need your help to prepare for future attacks from our opponents, so I must ask again:
John, if you can, will you make a donation of $5 or more to help hit our critical October fundraising goal? Hitting deadlines like tomorrow's is critical to building a campaign ready for re-election.
Thank you for all of your support.
Your Congresswoman loves you,
Cori
