Leaders need two things to represent their communities – passion and pragmatism. Yvette has both in spades. You need the passion to fight for what your community needs – even in the face of harsh opposition – and you also need the pragmatism to know how to argue for your policy stances and form coalitions to get bills passed.
Without passion, a legislator will go with the flow and avoid stepping on toes. Without pragmatism, they won’t get anything done despite their strong words and stances.
That’s exactly why we need Yvette in Congress now more than ever.
