John,
There’s a false media narrative that Democrats are “divided” and that progressives, by insisting on keeping transformative economic investments and climate reforms in the Build Back Better Act, are somehow putting President Biden’s agenda at risk. In fact, at least 96% of the Democrats in Congress agree on these priorities.
The problem is two US Senators who seem to value their wealthy donors above the needs of the American people.
Because of one Senator’s deep connections to the fossil fuel industry, we’re in danger of weakening the climate provisions in this legislative package to the point where it could result in a net increase in carbon pollution. The other Senator’s ties to Big Pharma are standing in the way of crucial prescription drug pricing reform.
Whether you’re a progressive, a moderate, or a conservative, you have to act in the best interests of the public—not corporations, lobbyists, and rich donors.
Will you show your support for me and my colleagues who are standing firm against these two recalcitrant Senators so that we can enact President Biden’s agenda through a transformative Build Back Better Act? Please click here and give before the end-of-month deadline -- to help me stay in Congress and continue this critical work.
Trying to pass President Biden’s ambitious agenda has been incredibly difficult. The partisan divide in Congress is so deep, and even some of my Democratic colleagues are more interested in appeasing powerful special interests than in transforming peoples’ lives and saving the planet.
But no matter how hard it gets, I know this moment is too big, and far too important, for us to give up. How could we when the survival of the planet and the well-being of our children, seniors, and families hangs in the balance?
Frankly, I’m focusing all of my time on getting this historic bill passed, which means I’ve had a lot less time to spend campaigning and fundraising. That’s why it’s so important to get your support now, so I don’t fall behind heading into next year’s election and all the uncertainties of a redistricting year.
Please click here to give whatever you can manage before the end-of-month deadline just a few hours away. Now that I’m squaring off against Big Coal, Big Pharma, and other special interests on the national stage, they’ll be looking for any opportunity to target me in the coming election.
Thanks for all your help,
Jared
