COP26 is about to start - some things you can do No images? Click here Dear John, The COP26 UN Climate talks are about to start! Activists from all over the world are getting ready for a Global Day of Action for Climate Justice on the 6th November, the first Saturday of the talks. No matter where you are, you can get involved too. Grassroots groups and trade unions have organised a march in Dublin city centre at 12 noon on the 6th of November in response to the call to action from the civil society COP26 Coalition in the UK. People from Stop Climate Chaos member organisations will be joining the march and we hope you might join us too John! We’ll be meeting outside the Hugh Lane gallery at 12 noon so that we can all take part in the march together as a group. The march itself starts in the Garden of Remembrance which is very close by. A similar demonstration is also being planned in Cork. Can’t get to Dublin or Cork? Don’t worry! There are demonstrations and gatherings being planned across Ireland for the Global Day of Action. We recommend getting in touch with your local One Future climate campaign group to see if a demonstration is being planned for your area - or to get involved in planning something with them. Sign up to the One Future email list here - once you sign up you’ll get an email with a link to join your local One Future group’s Whatsapp group. No matter where you take action, don’t forget to take some photos to tweet or email to your local TDs. Hashtags being used on the day will include #GlobalDayofAction for #ClimateJustice and #COP26. If you fancy making some placards or banners you could check out the COP26 coalition’s global demands and messaging guide here for some ideas for placard demands or slogans. Want to follow COP26 in more depth? People from some of our member organisations will be travelling to Glasgow and will be doing some live Zoom sessions and streams on social media to update us on what’s going on. If you’d like to join these live update sessions sign up to our special COP26 mailing list here to get email updates and Zoom links to join these sessions. You might also be interested in attending some of the COP26 Coalition’s People’s Summit, which takes place from 7th to 10th November. You can view its programme of events here - it includes online events that you can join from home. Hope to see you in action during COP26!
