SIGN UP › [[link removed]]Dear John,

It’s simple: Writing letters works.

When Amnesty can mobilize people — passionate human rights supporters like you —
to write actual letters (yes — with a pen and paper, envelope and stamp!), human
rights defenders get freed.

In the last five years, 20 human rights defenders have been freed from prison —
in part because of handwritten letters generated as part of our Write for Rights
campaign. And human rights activists tell us that Write for Rights letters gave
them hope during their most dire moments.

You care about making human rights impact. Do the most powerful thing you can —
write a letter. It will only take 3 minutes of your time. Get the details here »

This year’s Write for Rights campaign is unique because we’re focusing Amnesty’s
efforts on young people who have been targeted — like 23-year-old Yasaman Aryani
in the photo above.

Her case is outrageously unjust. Just this year, Iranian authorities sentenced
her to 16 years in prison for peacefully protesting Iran’s compulsory veil laws
for women. We must free her!

It’s simple: The more letters we generate, the more likely we are to positively
impact these young peoples’ lives. Can you spare a few minutes of your time to
help make a difference?

Birtukan Mideksa, a former Write for Rights Case and human rights activist from
Ethiopia told our team, “I am proof that your letters have power. Your letters
set me free.” How powerful!

Pick up your pen and do something really meaningful. Next year, Yasaman could be
thanking you!
