Many of my colleagues represent constituents with different values and concerns from states thousands of miles away from New Jersey.

However, I believe there’s always an opportunity to find common ground.

It’s why I work so hard to develop personal relationships with other Senators by reaching out and listening to my colleagues’ differing perspectives with an open mind.

I’m willing to work with any Senator as long as we share a common goal because we cannot accomplish great change if we don’t work together.

Let me be clear: I will never sacrifice my own morals and beliefs, and I know we can pass the historic Build Back Better Act by coming together as a coalition — including its investments to make preschool free for every American kid, extending the Child Tax Credit of up to $300 per month for 35 million Americans, and the largest effort ever to combat climate change in our country’s history.

Despite the division that Donald Trump and his allies are still stoking across the country, I’m doing everything I can to help reach consensus on this once-in-a-generation investment in our country and planet’s future.

I’m confident the Senate will pass the Build Back Better Act — but in order for us to build on this historic legislation, we need to not only defend, but expand our Democratic majority in 2022 to keep Mitch McConnell out of power.
