We have 4 DAYS to turn out every last progressive vote in Virginia. We’re on the air – advertising on TV, radio, and online – and on the ground.
We NEED to keep this critical battleground state blue. That means winning the governor’s race at the top of the ballot and keeping a Democratic majority in the state House – the stakes not only for Virginians but for the whole country are off the charts.
But with the increasing urgency and closeness of the governor’s race, as well as key down-ballot races, we now need to raise at least another $38,099 in 3X-MATCHED donations in the next 48 hours, and the more we raise on top of that, the more we can do!
Trump-endorsed Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin is a far-right extremist who’s positioned himself as a ‘moderate’ -- we still have time to expose his extremism to make headway with independents and close what some are saying is an enthusiasm gap among progressive voters. (Remember, in last month’s recall election in California, we closed a similar enthusiasm gap by exposing the extremism of the leading Republican in that governor’s race, Larry Elder.)
Here are just some of Youngkin’s positions:
He’s for BANNING BOOKS and suppressing the voices and perspectives of Black authors
He supports abortion bans
He’s kowtowed to insurrectionists and showed reluctance to admit that Trump lost the 2020 election
He’s against marriage equality
He’s taken a hardline, anti-science stance against recommended vaccine and mask policies to combat COVID-19
He enthusiastically touts endorsements of right-wing hate groups like the Family Research Council
In contrast, in his first term as governor, Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe expanded health care and ended the racist, Jim Crow-era policy of permanently disenfranchising people with felony convictions. And he’ll stand up for fundamental rights like the right to choose and LGBTQ+ equality.
We spent the past decade fighting to turn this bellwether state, once the seat of the Confederacy, blue. And so much progress has been made as a result. Now all that progress is under threat of being flushed away!

Look, you know what a far-right governor – and possible far-right state House majority – would mean for the rights of Virginians. Virginia could be the next state to pursue aggressive voter suppression measures … and the right to choose, workers’ rights, protections for LGBTQ+ people, health care, public education and more could all come under attack.
On the national front, however, with the midterms coming up next year, the stakes are also incredibly high.
Who controls redistricting is on the ballot…
This election will determine the national narrative and who has the momentum heading into the 2022 midterms…
Even our fight against the Electoral College is on the ballot because, with progressives and Democrats in control, we have the chance to make Virginia the next state to adopt the National Popular Vote interstate compact, which would allow our presidential elections to be decided just like every other democratically elected office in our country: by whoever gets the most votes.
This is our fight – all of us. Whether you live in Virginia, California, New York, Texas, or Wisconsin – the entire country has skin in the game. And we’re in the home stretch.
