The newly expanded PAWS Chicago Medical Center—the first stop for homeless animals when they arrive at PAWS—now treats the most serious cases on site. This transformative homeless pet hospital on Chicago’s Southwest Side serves 25,000 homeless and at-risk pets each year.

** Sherlock and the Case of the Missing Home

3-year-old cat Sherlock was surrendered to PAWS because of mounting medical concerns. Fortunately, Blair and Kira solved the case of where this asthmatic, walking-impaired sleuth would live next during our Clear the Shelters adoption campaign.

** The Aftermath of Hurricane Ida

A lot has happened since 38 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens made their way to PAWS from Louisiana. An outbreak of ringworm and two heartworm diagnoses have stretched the team thin, but we’re slowly getting each of these rescues ready for adoption.

Trick or treat? Did you say treat? Join us on the patio at Harry Caray's Tavern on Navy Pier for the PAWS Chicago Wag-O-Ween Costume Contest on Saturday, October 30th from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM CDT. The entry fee is $10 per pup and 100% of the proceeds benefit PAWS Chicago. Prizes, courtesy of Harry Caray's and Navy Pier, will be awarded to the winner of each category.

“Once a PAWS pet, always a PAWS pet.” After 2.5 years, Dexter’s adoptive family was forced to give him up. But, with our matchmaking help, Cathrine Vaughn and Dexter found each other and are now enjoying the first exciting weeks of a lifelong friendship.
