This week, Rep. Al Green brought up a resolution to impeach President Trump. Fortunately, out of self-preservation, many House Democrats helped kill the measure. The vote was 332 to 95 with one lawmaker voting “present.” It was the first time the Democrat-controlled House weighed in on impeachment and it will probably be the only time in history that a chamber voted on the issue based on tweets they didn’t like.
It was embarrassing for Democrats, to say the least. While they continue this circus, more pressing matters like federal spending and the debt ceiling remain unsolved. It’s time for these lawmakers to focus on the real issues at stake and stop trying to find reasons to impeach President Trump — reasons that aren’t even valid. We stand by President Trump, whose leadership has restored the American economy and brought jobs back to all Americans.
Yesterday, the House approved legislation to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour through a party-line vote of 231-199. Increasing the federal minimum wage has been an issue championed by Democrats for many years now, and like most policies championed by Democrats, it’s based on falsehoods and myths, and violates the sovereignty of each state. Creating a federal minimum-wage standard doesn’t account for the many states where the cost of living is lower. States themselves have the liberty to set their own minimum wage, a threshold informed by people who work and live in the area in which the minimum is being set—not by wealthy out-of-touch congresspeople trying to score a political advantage for the next election. The bill will likely die in the Senate, but such a bill can and will come up again if both chambers hold a Democratic majority.
Sen. Ted Cruz and members of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution confronted Google during a hearing this week and demanded “accountability from Big Tech.”
“This is a staggering amount of power to ban speech, manipulate search results, destroy rivals, and shape culture,” Cruz said regarding the Big Tech companies’ bias against conservatives.
It’s a relief that lawmakers on the Hill are shining a light on Big Tech companies in an attempt to hold them accountable for conservative bias. It’s time for these companies to embrace our First Amendment and allow everyone the same right to free speech in online platforms that we enjoy in the rest of society.
You know what drives us crazy? Democrats saying, “no one is above the law—unless they’re illegal immigrants.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Kamala Harris and Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin have all said, “no one is above the law” and all have said they support illegal immigrants breaking the law. When the Trump administration announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers would begin enforcing the law and removing illegal immigrants who have been issued final deportation orders by a federal judge, those same Democrats were publicly outraged.
Not to mention, Ilhan Omar is a perfect example of a Democrat making exceptions to the law—she did it for herself. It’s what Scott Johnson would describe as “the most extensive spree of illegal misconduct committed by a House member in American history.” But her party will not open an investigation because she’s a Democrat and they protect their own. Hypocrisy and cover ups run deep in the Democratic Party. It’s not looking good for a lot of the Democratic candidates financially. Recently, financial disclosures show that 11 candidates are operating their campaigns at a deficit and eight others have less than $1 million to help move their campaigns along.... Democrats are strong-arming Robert Mueller, forcing him to come out of retirement and testify in front of their kangaroo court. Negotiations for receiving Mueller’s testimony broke down once already, delaying the proceedings a week, to July 24th.... To Bernie Sanders , “Democratic socialism means requiring and achieving political and economic freedom in every community in this country.” Survivor of Communist China, Helen Raleigh, would disagree. Raleigh was born in Chairman Mao’s Communist China... Several items of note on the border security/immigration front since we last spoke. First, the Washington Examiner reported last Tuesday that, “the number of people taken into custody after illegally crossing from Mexico into the United States dropped in June for the first time in six months,...
